SINGAPORE: Singapore has recorded the highest number of vegetation fires in decades due to the dry spell.
In the first two weeks of this month, 106 fires have been recorded. This follows a record 182 in January, well above the average of 26 cases for the month over the past decade.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) has described this as unprecedented and said it is installing dry hydrant systems to provide water supply in areas with dry vegetation like Tampines and Fort Road.
Smoke from these vegetation fires has contributed to the particle build—up in the air, resulting in Singapore experiencing slightly hazy conditions since last Friday.
The weak winds have also contributed to the bleary conditions, as they are unable to blow the smoke particles away.
The National Environment Agency said Singapore’s 24—hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) crept up to the "moderate" range of between 53 and 57 over the weekend, rising from the "good" range the week before.
The haze is leaving many Singaporeans hot under the collar.
"Even at night, it’s really hot, even turning on the air—con doesn’t help," said a member of the public.
"Exercise is out of the question, movements out in the open are restricted," said another.
"I couldn’t breathe. I’ve been coughing, because I’m quite allergic to the haze," said a third.
"Even the poor doggies at home" are feeling the heat, said a fourth.
The haziness and hot weather is expected to persist over the next three days, as wind conditions continue to be light.

Watch one movie call MAD OF ENGLISH..haha so funny it talk about the China hosting a Olympic in 2008..then all the china student started to learn English..and it is very amazing..haha and abit fun..first they use read, after that hor one by one go to the front and shout out the English words to everyone to hear..hehe then the china taxi driver alos learn ENGLISH because if they don't know English, they can't help up the olypmic,an also when the olypmic coming, they are the first line to communication with the foreigner..so ENGLISH is a INternational lauguage..and almost going to end the movie le hor, one scence was so touched, the man tell all the china student that..Why parent is so hardworking??It is because for us..Seeing parent do not know English, so they have no choice but to take a jobs that they don like or love it at all they ..but all for what??Is for their children,Is to pay our school fee, and let us to learn MORE..ONe day and One day we grow up but parent one day and one day old..When we grow up to adult..parent aready gone..What can u give to your parent??..Omg it was so touched..my tears was side my eye..T.T..I wan to say that I love U My parent!!

ytd just come back from malaysia , cos my cousin wedding..so must attend..first go to the church cos my cousin is christian, then sing song , listen to the church ppl talking then after that is my cousin and my cousin laogong say i do..wow so funny haha when they say i do..haha.. wow at there hor..when wedding start...all the food look so nice..i eat so much until my stomach wan burst..ahaha but nbm cos is free..haha kidding kidding..so happy see my cousin married le..so fun..we make them kiss kiss infront of everyone..haha then carmera ready..shoot...so fun sia.....make me laugh until crazy..then is end of wedding le
